• Use search terms and not natural language for your searches.  For example, type keywords like:  water and "global warming"   NOT:  I need an article about how global warming impacts access to water.

• Use quotation marks (" ") around phrases or words you want to keep together in your search.  Example:  "water pollution"  Or  "global warming"

• Use AND if you want to combine several terms within one search.  Example:  "global warming" and water and Kenya

• Use an asterisk (*) when you're not sure what ending for a search term might give you the most useful results.  For example, type  environ* for these search results: environs, enviroment, enviromental, enviromentalist, etc.
